Anthropology Matters is the official postgraduate network of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and Commonwealth (the ASA). Anthropology Matters began in 1997 as a student-led research training seminar at SOAS entitled Ethnography at the Millennium. The research student community that grew from this seminar created a journal in 1999, renamed Anthropology Matters Journal in 2002, the same year that the ASA postgraduate network formed. The journal usually publishes two issues a year and submissions are welcome. Consonant with the aims of the Anthropology Matters initiative, the journal strongly encourages research-based submissions of 6000 – 8000 words that fall within the purview of social and cultural anthropology from postgraduate students and early career scholars.
